The country’s economy is primarily service based, with tourism being a significant contributor to GDP. Portugal’s appeal stems from its safety, quality of life, and free healthcare and education systems. Lisbon is noted as the densest capital in Western Europe, with 11 tourists per inhabitant, making it attractive for real estate investment. The city offers the cheapest price per square meter in Western Europe, with 41% of real estate transactions in Lisbon made by international investors, primarily from the US, France, UK, Brazil, China, and Germany. This diversity of investors provides stability to the market.
